Five Elements East West merges five  basic components of the universe—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth with the unique ‘East-meets-West’ heritage of the Central and Western districts. This comprehensive experience consists of three integral parts. A theatre performance explores the five elements through the interplay of nature, music, virtues, and the human body. Through songs, it reveals the properties and interrelationships of the five elements, the five-note scale and the five virtues. On the wider spectrum, a unique ‘5 Elements Cultural Tourism Map’ will be devised for tourists and children to embark on an exploratory route through heritage buildings and streets of Central and Sheung Wan. Integrating the inherited wisdom of the five elements, the route will breed new insights for appreciating Hong Kong’s cityscape, be they historical architectures or postmodern corners.
