Nanyin Theatre Siu Hei’s Musical Journey: Poetry in Nanyin

Siu Hei’s Musical Journey: Poetry in Nanyin brings classic Tang poetry stories to life through Nanyin melodies. Audiences will rediscover the vivid imagery of Tang poetry through expressive Nanyin vocals. Renowned composer Ng Cheuk-yin weaves delightful Nanyin children’s songs into a heartwarming family story. The captivating and emotionally resonant performance will be led by Cantonese Opera legend Prof Yuen Siu-fai. Together with live zheng accompaniment and interactive elements, it promises an enjoyable experience for audiences of all ages.

Parent-Child Nanyin Introductory Workshop
Exhibition Gallery, Tsuen Wan Town Hall The instructor will introduce the structure of nanyin, and participants will try their hands at writing new lyrics for a classic melody. With the beat of the wooden clapper baan,
families will perform their verses together, creating a one-of-a-kind parentchild nanyin piece!

Exhibition Gallery, Tsuen Wan Town Hall Did you know Cantonese has nine sounds and six tones? That’s why it sounds so musical! Cantonese nanyin is a unique art form that turns these tones into song and storytelling.
Come join this workshop and explore the sounds and rhythms of Cantonese through games and singing.
